​​As a Hispanic person, I know it is important to learn Spanish especially when talking to relatives ​who do not speak English. Spanish 201 allows me to be able to talk about certain topics and issues that I was not able to previously. I can use what I have learned in this course to talk about art, clothing, as well as serious issues like immigration.  As someone who wants to be a communications major, I know I am going to travel a lot, so learning about tourism and immigration is important.​​​​​

As someone who enjoys making and consuming art, I am glad to pass on my knowledge in another language. For example, I love music of all genres and languages. I know my grandmother has similar tastes as me but since there was a language barrier, it was difficult to talk to her about this common interest. Since taking this course I have been able to communicate with her about a topic I feel very happy about.
